Cristobal Abugaber is a Mexican writer-director based in New York whose work explores the emotional terrain of family and identity, always searching for the heart and humor within every story.
His short film, The Perfect Tomato (2024), starring Eligio Meléndez, won Outstanding International Short Narrative at the Anchorage International Film Festival and Best Director at the NYC Independent Film Festival. It also screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals including Indy Shorts, LALIFF, and the Guanajuato International Film Festival.
He holds an MFA in Screenwriting and Directing from Columbia University. His thesis short, Faint Memories (2026), starring Max Casella and Nina Bloomgarden, is set to premiere in early 2027.
He is the co-founder of the production company So Darling and is currently developing his debut feature, The Way Home, a spiritual dramedy set in Bali.
